Note: this post has nothing to do with Monster Truck Rallies... I just wanted to say it.

Cupcake

I can't take credit for actually baking these goods like this talented lady here, but I can take credit for holding up a line-up of cupcake-hungry children so I could snap a few pictures.

Mountain Spiders

We found this guy at 2450 meters above sea level!  Edmonton is listed at 668m above sea level (although at Steve's house, he is at 666 meters).

My Aperture is bigger than your Aperture

Voitlander-1

Got me a new lens - A Voitlander 58mm f/1.4 in a Nikon mount. You can clearly see the size difference between an f/1.4 and a f/1.8 respectively (both set wide open). Keep in mind that aperture sizes are focal length dependent, so to be fair, the nikkor on the right would have a smaller aperture even at 1.4. But you get the picture... (pun!)

Arch

I agree, this is a boring picture. I kind of like that there's nothing interesting. I was also surprised to find that it was ridiculously sharp for el cheapo lens at f/1.8 (no PS sharpening here, neither. This is right out of the camera.) Also, totally in focus and quite straight/level/centered in the dark; I was just passing by and snapped this.

Roger Dodger

Taken within the hour of the ice-cream picture below, this is Roger. You can tell he's pro because not only is there a picture of him photographing, but it's in b&w.

Rainy Day Icecream

A little blurry and a little over exposed... but that's what I was going for :-P

Greenkeh

My sister actually snapped this one. I know, it's a cliché-type picture, but I really like it. I think it's cause I'm a sucker for the colourful numbers on old Nikkors. And it's a cool looking camera that counts, right?

Radar

Technically, this isn't even a 1.8 photo. It's shot at 45mm at f/2.8. But I can focus closer than with my 50mm, so the bokeh is actually more pronounced. Take your gaping aperture and shove it.
